How is Forest Fresh Bilona Ghee made?

Our Bilona ghee is made from the A2 milk of native Belahi cows, who graze freely in the Shivalik forests of Uttarakhand.

Unlike most of the Ghee available in market, our Forest Fresh Bilona Ghee is prepared from ghee-making through a method known as Bilona — a slow, sacred process where every step is done meticulously, with intention and care. Mentioned in the Charaka Samhita and Ayurvedic texts over 2,000 years ago, Bilona ghee was regarded not just as food, but as medicine — a carrier of vitality, memory, and longevity.

The Ancient Bilona Process: Why It Matters

Unlike commercial ghee, which is typically made by heating cream or processed butter, Bilona ghee is created using a multi-step traditional method:

  1. Curd is set from fresh, whole A2 milk (not cream).
  2. The curd is churned (Bilona) to extract makkhan (butter).
  3. The makkhan is slow-cooked over low flame to produce golden ghee.
